Inside the Experience
Located in the heart of Evanston, Wyoming, the Lincoln Highway Tavern offers travelers and locals alike a memorable dining experience steeped in hearty, satisfying flavors. Situated conveniently at 1943 Harrison Dr, directly across from a busy truck stop and near the Flying J, this spot has quickly become a staple for those passing through or seeking a comforting meal with character.
What stands out immediately is the tavern's ability to deliver exceptional food in a lively yet intimate setting. Despite its modest size, the atmosphere pulses with energy—warm, inviting, and authentic. The bartenders and servers, especially Kellie, earn high praise for their friendly, attentive service even during peak hours, ensuring every guest feels valued.
The menu truly shines with its focus on bold, expertly crafted dishes. Burgers are a clear specialty, with options like the signature Brown and Gold Burger and the 66 Buffalo Burger drawing enthusiastic endorsements. The patties—whether traditional beef or bison—are cooked to perfection, offering juicy, richly flavored bites that resonate with both truckers and families. Accompanying sides such as sweet potato fries elevate the experience, providing a satisfying balance of textures and tastes.
Another highlight is the wings, described as some of the best in decades by patrons who recall wings from distant hometown favorites. Cooked flawlessly, the wings boast a well-seasoned, crispy skin with tender, juicy meat inside, making them a must-order. The complementary homemade ranch dressing adds a creamy brightness that complements the spiciness perfectly.
For those looking to expand their palate, the roasted Japanese chilies—known locally as shishitos—offer a smoky, flavorful appetizer that comes highly recommended. Their charred, mildly spicy notes act as a perfect teaser before the main course.
Lincoln Highway Tavern excels in blending familiar comfort foods with carefully curated, bold flavors. The overall experience is further enhanced by its strategic location for travelers needing a quality meal on the road and the lively ambiance that makes every visit feel special. Whether stopping in for a quick bite or settling in for a relaxed evening, this tavern stands out as a beacon of great food and genuine hospitality on the Lincoln Highway corridor.
“ Sitting at the truck stop across the street and decided to come over and get a burger. It did not disappoint! Now I kinda wish I would have tried the bison patty but it was still delicious. I had the brown and gold burger with sweet potato fries. Highly recommend. ”
“ Great bar, far exceeded expectations for the food! Place was slammed on Sat night, but Kelly handled everything with grace and a smile - really appreciate friendly service under stress :) Get the shishitos! ”
“ Wow.. small bar but big lively feel. The bar tenders are amazing! The cheese burger with everything and the fries definitely top 5 burger . The homemade ranch is delicious ”
“ My wife and I were just passing through on our way from Denver to our home in Boise. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Evanston(another review)and asked Weston, the evening clerk at the hotel, where to eat. He recommended the Lincoln Highway Tavern. We walked in at about 9:40 pm. The kitche closes at 10. We wouldn't have been surprised to be turned away, but the wonderful woman covering the bar and kitchen, forties, glasses, dark hair, was very friendly and gracious. She also took excellent care of us, despite really having to hustle. I had the pulled pork tacos and my wife had the teriyaki wings. The tacos(I ordered two)were stuffed with pulled pork that was very tasty, and came with crema, a sweet relish salsa, and cheese(a slight upcharge). My tacos came with tortilla chips that were crispy and well salted. My wife liked her wings. If we're passing through again, we would definitely stay in Evanston and have a meal at Lincoln Highway Tavern. ”
“ The best buffalo wings I've had since grad school, 20 years ago in upstate NY. Thanks for making my night. ”
